Plateful of Patra

India is celebrating one of its most famous festivals- Navratri. It is dedicated to Goddess Parvati. This festival lasts for 9 days. It is very famous for Garba, which is the folk dance of Gujarat. But Garba is not the only wonder of Gujarat! Patra is a Gujarati dish that is just like most of the Gujarati cuisine: vegetarian. In fact, it is a vegan dish! But the dish is going to get only more interesting from here. It is prepared from Colocasia leaves. A layer of seasoned paste is applied on the leaf and it is folded into rolls and steamed. This also makes it very healthy as there is no oil needed. Once the leaf is cooked with steam, it is seasoned with spices and sesame seeds. This dish is extremely healthy and is no compromise for taste buds! It can be eaten with Ketchup or mint paste. It is also easy to make and is highly loved by Gujaratis. What do you think about Patra? Let us know in the comments!
