Studio Ghibli and Perception of Reality

“Everybody, try laughing. Then whatever scares you will go away!". My Neighbor Totoro. There is a misconception that animation is only for kids, but this opinion would only come from people who haven’t watched other forms of animation. Ever since I started watching movies and TV, anime was always something that I would choose over other things. After finding Studio Ghibli and watching its movies, I think I started looking at anime as art. The artwork is unique and picturesque. The scenes have such a surreal calmness about them that it makes us feel nostalgic and childlike. Although all the movies are for children, they could move adults with their storytelling and world. There are only a few movies that take us on a journey of storytelling combined with emotions. And when we watch them, we are in that world, closely attached to those characters and their world. And that is where we connect with art. Because art is meant to evoke emotions in us, and these movies do it perfectly. I hope you’ll watch these movies in the near future. Because in life, we crave for love and happiness. And if we could find it in simple things like movies or animation, it would all be easier.
